Akkarouna is a women-led nonprofit organization that has been making a difference in Lebanon since 2010. We believe that true change comes from within the community. That's why we've consistently relied on participatory approaches to empower local communities and strengthen their relationships with government entities, authorities, and stakeholders. Our core mission is to expand meaningful access to social protection services for everyone. We are deeply committed to serving the most disadvantaged and marginalized populations of all nationalities and backgrounds, ensuring that gender equality and the needs of people with special needs (PWSN) are central to all our efforts.
At Akkarouna, our work is guided by a deep commitment to fundamental values. Participation is at our core; we believe that lasting change comes from empowering communities to actively shape their own future. We are unwavering in our pursuit of social justice, advocating for meaningful access to social protection services for all, especially those most often left behind. Inclusivity is paramount, as we specifically target the most disadvantaged and marginalized populations of all nationalities and backgrounds. We champion gender equality in every initiative, and rigorously ensure the full integration and support of people with special needs (PWSN). Finally, we value collaboration and empowerment, continuously building stronger relationships between communities, authorities, and stakeholders to create a more just and prosperous Lebanon.
Akkarouna aims at achieving sustainable socio-economic growth through empowerment of women, children, and youth by building their capacities, enhancing community networks, implementing development projects and spreading awareness about rights and citizenship.
An inclusive and prosperous society where women, children, and youth are empowered to thrive and contribute.
