Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) are fundamental to individual well-being and societal progress. However, in Lebanon, socio-economic challenges, cultural norms, and limited access to information and services perpetuate stigma and discrimination, leaving many vulnerable groups underserved. Raising awareness and equipping communities with the tools to advocate for SRHR is essential for fostering inclusivity and gender equity. Akkarouna’s previous experience, methodology of work and needs reflection have shown success in addressing SRHR components within North Governorates. Akkarouna’s proposed project targets 30 youth (aged 18–35) from the marginalized areas of Beb El Ramel, Tebbeneh, and Abou Samra in Tripoli. It aims to equip them with skills to advocate for (SRHR), lead genderequitable solutions, and raise SRHR awareness within their communities. Participants will receive training in SRHR topics, advocacy, facilitation skills, and protection, which will enable them to disseminate knowledge through peer-to-peer sessions, leading to a wider spread of knowledge within societies. These sessions will challenge harmful social norms, identify local SRHR needs, and foster dialogue. The youth will also implement three SRHR advocacy initiatives, one in each area, addressing community-specific challenges, reducing stigma, and promoting non-discrimination. Akkarouna’s proposed project will contribute to creating a generation of informed youth who can advocate for SRHR, challenge harmful social norms, and support positive societal change, ensuring a more inclusive and equitable future.
